NSB Recruitment are currently working with an established and forward-thinking multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior or Principal Sustainability Consultant to join its growing Sustainability & Energy team in London.

The Role
This is a varied and influential position, suited to an experienced sustainability professional ready to take on greater responsibility within a dynamic consultancy environment.
You will be involved in the delivery and leadership of sustainability services across a diverse portfolio of projects, from early concept through to completion.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and delivering small to medium-scale sustainability commissions
- Supporting and leading workstreams on larger, complex projects
- Facilitating sustainability and energy workshops with clients and design teams
- Reviewing, coordinating and delegating work across project teams
- Mentoring and supporting the development of junior consultants
- Undertaking technical modelling and analysis, including:
- Whole life and embodied carbon
- Circular economy strategies
- Building performance simulation
- Operational energy and renewables
- Thermal comfort and overheating assessments
- Developing project sustainability, carbon and energy strategies
- Delivering environmental certifications such as BREEAM, WELL and HQM
- Supporting the delivery of net zero whole life carbon outcomes
- Contributing to internal research, innovation and thought leadership
- Producing technical reports, specifications and planning documentation
- Managing client relationships and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Overseeing commercial aspects of your projects, including programme, resourcing and invoicing
About You
You’ll be a motivated sustainability consultant with strong technical foundations and a passion for driving meaningful change in the built environment.
While no candidate is expected to cover every area, you should bring depth in several of the following:
- Energy and carbon strategies
- Part L compliance (Elmhurst, IES or similar)
- NABERS UK modelling
- In-use energy assessments
- Dynamic thermal modelling and overheating analysis
- BREEAM, HQM and related certifications
- Net zero and embodied carbon calculations
- Circular economy approaches
- Planning-stage sustainability and energy statements
- Health and wellbeing strategies
Requirements
To be successful, you are likely to have:
- A relevant degree (engineering, environmental science, sustainability or similar)
- Proven experience within a sustainability or environmental consultancy environment
- Confidence leading technical discussions and workshops with clients and design teams
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- A collaborative, proactive and solutions-driven approach
- A genuine commitment to sustainability and low-carbon design
- The ambition to progress within a respected and growing consultancy
