    Regional Facilities Manager - Wiltshire

    NSB Recruitment is supporting a leading public-sector education organisation to appoint a Regional Facilities Manager into its central estates team. Reporting to the Director of Estates, this role will take responsibility for the operational and strategic management of a diverse education estate including schools and specialist learning facilities.

    Covering sites across Swindon and along the M4 corridor to Reading, you will act as the key estates lead for headteachers, school business managers and central teams, ensuring buildings are safe, compliant, financially sustainable and fully fit for learning.

    This is a regional estates role focused on the real-world operation of education buildings. You will balance day-to-day site performance, compliance and contractor management with medium- and long-term capital investment, condition improvement and sustainability planning.

    You will be highly visible across the estate, working directly with schools to resolve issues, plan upgrades and ensure estates decisions support educational delivery, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the delivery of capital works, refurbishments and condition-improvement projects across live school and college environments, carefully managing phasing around term time, exams and safeguarding requirements.
    • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance across the regional estate, ensuring contractors, helpdesks and local site teams provide reliable, high-quality service.
    • Maintain robust asset, condition and compliance data to support funding bids, capital planning and regulatory reporting.
    • Ensure full statutory compliance across all education sites, including fire safety, asbestos, legionella, gas, electrical and health & safety.
    • Drive energy efficiency, decarbonisation and sustainability initiatives across school buildings, supporting net-zero and cost-reduction targets.
    • Identify and manage estates-related risks affecting learning, safeguarding and business continuity.
    • Control regional estates budgets, procurement and value-for-money delivery in line with public-sector requirements.
    • Build trusted working relationships with headteachers, school business managers, safeguarding leads, estates colleagues and external contractors.
    • Lead and develop site-based facilities, caretaking and estates teams, creating consistent standards across the region.

    Candidate Profile

    This role is designed for someone who already understands how education estates really work.

    You are likely to come from a school, college, academy trust or wider public-sector estates environment, where you have managed multiple occupied buildings with tight compliance and safeguarding requirements.

    • Proven experience in Estates or Facilities Management across a multi-site education or similarly regulated estate.
    • A strong working knowledge of school-based compliance, health & safety and safeguarding obligations.
    • Experience delivering capital projects and refurbishment programmes in live learning environments.
    • The ability to influence and support school leaders, balancing operational realities with long-term estate strategy.
    • A relevant qualification in Facilities Management, Estates, Building Services, Construction or Engineering.
    • NEBOSH Certificate (or working towards).
    • Strong organisational, communication and IT skills.
    • Willingness to travel regularly across the regional school and college estate.
