NSB Recruitment are currently supporting a globally active infrastructure delivery business in the appointment of an Environmental & Social Manager to join their London-based global team.
This organisation delivers turnkey healthcare, technology and government infrastructure programmes across Africa and Southeast Asia, partnering with government clients, international lenders and export credit agencies. Their projects sit at the intersection of infrastructure delivery and development finance, and this role plays a critical part in managing environmental and social risk across complex international portfolios.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced E&S/ ESIA professional looking to step into a high-impact, globally focused position with real influence across the full project lifecycle.
The Role
Sitting within a global function and reporting to the Global Environmental & Social Director (London-based), you will provide strategic oversight of environmental and social compliance from early-stage development through construction and into operation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and assessing environmental and social risks at early project stages
- Managing the procurement and delivery of key E&S studies, including ESIAs, ESMPs and Stakeholder Engagement Plans
- Overseeing specialist consultants preparing environmental and social deliverables
- Supporting site-based HSE teams and stakeholder engagement processes
- Ensuring compliance with international lender standards, regulatory frameworks and stakeholder requirements
- Managing environmental and social monitoring, performance tracking and reporting during construction and operations
- Engaging with regulators, lenders and local stakeholders across multiple international jurisdictions
The role will involve international travel at key project milestones.
About You
We are keen to speak with experienced Environmental & Social professionals who can demonstrate:
- 10+ years’ experience within Environmental & Social consultancy, infrastructure or the built environment
- Strong experience managing or critically reviewing ESIAs, ESMPs, stakeholder engagement processes and E&S monitoring frameworks
- A solid understanding of international standards such as IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, World Bank EHS Guidelines and OECD Common Approaches
- Experience working within multidisciplinary, cross-cultural project environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English essential)
- A Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline
- Professional membership (IEMA, ISEP or equivalent) advantageous
Desirable experience includes:
- Project exposure in West Africa and/or Southeast Asia
- French language skills
