NSB Recruitment currently have an exciting opportunity for a CAD Engineer to work for an award-winning company in the waste to energy sector.
Working within our client mechanical engineering team, primarily with the Lead CAD Designer, in this role you will be required to participate in the design process and be responsible for producing CAD models and associated manufacturing drawings for a range of equipment associated with our client’s pyrolysis technologies.
You will be responsible for ensuring all your work is delivered in a professional manner in accordance with the company procedures, to recognised international standards and best engineering practices, and in accordance with schedule and budget requirements. Depending on experience, it is anticipated that you will develop your mechanical engineering expertise to allow production of design calculations and analyses to aid in design development and substantiation.
Working as part of a small cross discipline team, this hands-on position involves full exposure to design, development, testing, commissioning and maintenance of operational units located in various worldwide locations. Drive and enthusiasm to gain an in-depth knowledge of pyrolysis is essential, combined with attention to detail and a proactive and methodical approach to problem solving.
- Production of detailed technical mechanical engineering and design work including:
- 3D CAD (Solidworks) modelling,
- 2D Detail drawings for manufacture (Solidworks and AutoCAD),
- Site layout drawings and model renders,
- Use of Solidworks simulation tools,
- Simple mechanical/structural/thermal calculations and/or analyses in order to support your design work,
- Work within the companies PDM workflow.
- Input into product requirements capture and management, including validation and verification of requirements.
- Maintenance of systems, procedures and design documentation within the mechanical function.
- Gain an understanding of pyrolysis and of the designs of the specific units.
- Provide technical support to the business development team as required.
- Participate in concept and detailed design reviews, HAZIDs, HAZOPs, FMEAs and other types of risk reviews.
- Ensure adherence to Environmental, Health and Safety, engineering and quality standards and procedures.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Minimum BEng/Meng degree (2:1 degree or better) in Mechanical Engineering or similar or equivalent with a demonstratable level of industrial experience in the design and development of mechanical systems.
- 3 years plus experience in CAD design engineering role.
- Be thorough and have very good attention to detail.
- General appreciation of materials selection, general mechanical and structural substantiation.
- Design for manufacture mentality to deliver fit-for-purpose, high performance, reliable and maintainable mechanical design solutions.
- Experience and proven ability to use 3D Solidworks modelling software and 2D CAD drafting with Solidworks and AutoCad.
- Experience of producing hand calculations.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Good working knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental legislation is desirable.
